On May 29, 2010, Ralek Gracie had his third MMA fight against the season MMA veteran, Kazushi “The Gracie Hunter” Sakuraba (26-13). In a beautiful display of the techniques and philosophy of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, Ralek patiently neutralized Sakuraba’s offense and then applied fundamental positional control strategies to dominate all three rounds and achieve the decisive victory via unanimous decision.

In his attempt to keep things simple, the Grand Master gravitated towards the powerful 10 words which he used more than all the rest. In recognition of the profound meaning he gave to those words and the lasting impact they had on all those who heard them, we have decided to make a series of 10 special edition t-shirts on Grand Master’s behalf.

The word “alavanca” means “leverage” in Portuguese. Anyone who studies the art knows that “alavanca” is the only reason why Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is so effective against larger opponents, and is the only thing that made it possible for Helio Gracie to become proficient in the art. The Grand Master used the word “alavanca” so much that it could have been his middle name.
